Family Scorebook Sharing
Family Scorebook sharing is an optional way to connect completed Kings history across family or friend devices through Apple's iCloud and CloudKit systems.
What It Does
A scorebook owner can turn on iCloud sharing, invite family or friends, and let each person claim the player profile that represents them. After games are completed and saved, finalized history can sync into the shared family scorebook.
What Syncs
| Completed games | Finalized games can sync after they are saved. |
|---|---|
| Player profiles | Players can claim their own profile on their own device. |
| Roster and scorebook details | Shared scorebook membership, roster, and summary information can use iCloud when sharing is enabled. |
| In-progress games | In-progress games stay on the device while you are playing. |
Set Up Sharing
- Open Kings on the device that should own the family scorebook.
- Open Settings and find the Sharing and Profile card.
- Choose the player profile that represents this device.
- Turn on Family Scorebook sharing when iCloud is available.
- Use Share Family Scorebook or Manage Family Sharing to invite people through Apple's sharing flow.
- On an invited device, accept the Apple iCloud invitation and claim the matching player profile.
Things to Know
- Kings keeps working locally if iCloud is unavailable.
- Apple account, iCloud availability, and Apple sharing settings can affect invitations and sync.
- The scorebook owner manages sharing.
- Family Scorebook sharing is not live online gameplay. Keep playing the physical card game at the table.
Troubleshooting
Sharing options are not available
Check that the device is signed in to iCloud and that iCloud is available. Kings can still keep score locally.
An invited player has not joined
Confirm the Apple iCloud invitation was accepted on the invited device, then open Kings and claim the correct player profile.
Completed history has not synced yet
Open Kings on the device that saved the completed game, confirm iCloud is available, and try Sync Now from the Sharing and Profile area.
